The Consequences of Hearing Loss

Thursday, April 20, 2023, 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM
MacColl Room, First Presbyterian Church

Many older Americans suffer from hearing loss from a variety of causes, including age, noise, genetics and other medical issues. Hearing is an important part of our day-to-day and allows us to communicate and engage in many parts of our lives. Hearing loss can cause us to feel excluded and make us withdraw socially. It can also impact our mental health and has been correlated to an increased risk of dementia. Dr. Danielle Leibowitz, an audiologist at Penn Medicine, discussed these issues and how to treat them. A very informative discussion!

Danielle Leibowitz, Au.D. is a doctor of audiology within the Division of Audiology in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. She has clinical expertise in the diagnosis and management of hearing disorders, working specifically with both traditional and bone conduction hearing devices. Dr. Leibowitz strives to provide compassionate care and improve the quality of life of her patients.
