This program features a presentation by renowned Philadelphia architect and author, David S. Traub on the subject of his newest book. Traub will reveal his deep and intimate knowledge of Philadelphia's streets and buildings, taking us on a wide-ranging and eclectic tour of houses from modest row homes to distinctive mansions and from the historically significant to the eccentrically expressive. Through words and images, he will help us gain a greater understanding of neighborhood history and architectural styles while his curiosity about the people who designed, built, and lived in these buildings will bring them to life for us.
David S. Traub studied architecture and city planning at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Design. At Penn, he studied with the legendary Louis Kahn and later worked in Kahn’s office. In 1974 he established David S. Traub Associates, Architects, Planners and Interior Designers. He has designed for the City of Philadelphia for Department of Parks and Recreation and the Fairmount Park Commission. The firm's work also includes, historic restoration, town planning and interior design of offices, houses and condominiums. This is his third book.
