About this event

Finding My Family: A Genealogical Journey

with Fred Blum

Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 2:00 pm

MacColl Room, First Presbyterian Church

201 S. 21st St.

This program will help Penn’s Villagers trace their family origins through using various tools that are mostly online. This is a 1.5 hour program with a PowerPoint presentation followed by time for genealogy questions from attendees. Our speaker is Fred Blum, a professional investigator and Past President of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Philadelphia. Mr. Blum started his attorney service company, B&R Services for Professionals in 1971 and is a licensed Private Detective.

In 1998 he became interested in his own family history. To find out more, he first studied genealogy and was then able to locate ancestors dating back to 1810. To date, he has identified over 1200 family members. Mr. Blum volunteers with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum to help locate Holocaust survivors. He will explain how he used his investigative skills to find his unknown family with techniques and resources that can help Penn’s Village members search for their own family roots, Jewish or not.
