Appreciating Mountains and Waters

Our speaker will ask our audience to reconsider the beauty of nature from an early Chinese perspective. This talk will explore early Chinese conceptions of nature and consider how such ideas have influenced everything from animated films to the search for more sustainable modes of healthcare in the United States.

Dr. Thomas Noel is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Chinese Language and Cultural Studies in the Department of Global Interdisciplinary Studies at Villanova University. He has a Ph.D. in Chinese from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Noel’s areas of interest include Medieval Chinese poetry and narrative and Early Chinese history and historiography.
