Talking with Older Adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment or Early Dementia
A Training for Penn’s Village Volunteers - All Members Welcome!
This training workshop is for volunteers who are working with people suffering from memory loss or early dementia, or anyone who may be dealing with a loved one with symptoms. Learn more about how best to assess, communicate, and support the person, while caring for yourself in the process. This will be an online presentation with time for questions.
Dr. Pamela Z. Cacchione’s
scholarship addresses three areas that impact social justice for older adults: decreasing ageism and stigma associated with mental health conditions; developing models of care for the dual eligible population such as Programs of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly and Managed Long-Term Services and Supports; and improving post hospitalization wraparound services to decrease re-hospitalizations and improve quality of life.
Ellen Munsterman
is a predoctoral student at Penn Nursing in the NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health, completing a dual degree in the Masters in Bioethics (MBE) program. Ellen obtained her BSN and MSN as an Adult/Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist at Texas Christian University. Ellen’s research interests are related to the experience of hospitalization for older adults living with dementia.
