Home Design For Safety, Accessibility and Longevity

This discussion will center around home safety, accessibility and home modifications.

We will be discussing the disconnect between people wanting to remain in their homes as long and as safely as possible, but not knowing how to do so.

Many homes are not safe for older adults, yet most falls at home can be reduced with modifications.

We will discuss how modifications can make individuals safer in their homes and may actually save money in the long run!

Rebeca Sternbach is an Occupational Therapist, Accessibility Consultant and Certified Aging in Place Specialist. Rebeca worked as the Assistant Supervisor of Acute Care Occupational Therapy at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She also coordinated discharge planning, at-home equipment recommendations, and referrals for follow-up services.

She started her own company, Ability Home Solutions, which specializes in allowing those who are living with a cognitive or physical disability or concern related to aging to stay in their homes for as long as they are safely able to do so. She now does clinical partnerships and business development for Jukebox Health, a full spectrum home modification company
