In-Person in the MacColl Room

This presentation was for women and men of all ages to learn more about pelvic floor issues - what they are, what causes them, and how to prevent them from happening.  Many things such as urinary leakage are considered “normal” consequences of aging, but it was explained why that is not necessarily the case! Other topics included other common pelvic floor issues such as urinary urgency, constipation, fecal incontinence, pain with intercourse, and back and hip pain. Also discussed was anatomy and posture and the role of the pelvic floor muscles. A lot of attention was paid to proper bowel and bladder mechanics, as well as the role that posture and other co-morbidities can play in pelvic floor function. The focus was on prevention, but discussed was how physical therapy can help with some common issues.  As well as an outline what might warrant a call to a specialist.
