We all know that physical activity and exercise is good for us. But older adults may have trouble with balance, tremors, depth perception and other challenges that may leave caregivers worried about the risk. This presentation will discuss the appropriate type, intensity, and specificity of physical activity for older adults. It will also review how caregivers and loved ones can best support safe and effective physical activity for the older adult.
Elizabeth Edmonds, MA, MS, OTR/L, has 15 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist working with older adults in the hospital, inpatient, outpatient, and home setting. Additionally, Elizabeth has specialty certifications as an American Occupational Therapy Association Fieldwork Educator and Dementia Practitioner.
