It seems like Haiti is frequently in the news, with most of that news dire and heartbreaking. Dr. Pierre Lubin’s experience living in both Haiti and the United States allows him to compare and contrast the two, thereby giving program participants a familiar baseline – his experience in the U.S. -- from which to learn about everyday life in Haiti. His passion for academic justice grew from his experience of feeling silenced in grade school in Haiti, was nurtured by his studies of teaching and learning, and now energizes his students and audiences in Haiti, Canada, and the U.S.

Pierre Lubin, Ph.D., was born in Haiti and moved with his family to the Crown Hill neighborhood of New York City when he was seven years old. Lubin served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps and went on to pursue an academic career in education, ultimately earning a Ph.D. in educational studies from McGill University, He has focused on justice and success for all learners in his 20-year career as an international educator.
