Death is mandatory. And yes, death causes fear, grief and sadness. However, this suffering and chaos can be minimized.

In this program, we learned about the work of death doulas. Death doulas support the end-of-life experience, to minimize suffering and maximize the profound, reverent, memorable nature of this part of life’s journey. Yes, it is possible!

We hope after watching this program you will know that talking about death won’t kill you -- instead, it could lead to some of the most profound conversations of your life.

Russ Alexander and Annie Wilson are death doulas, practicing under the name Sunset Companions. Russ has been a hospice volunteer for eight years, and trained in chaplaincy at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Both took death doula training with the International End-of-Life Doula Association (INELDA). They have been present at the bedside of over 100 dying folks. At Sunset Companions, they offer end-of-life planning and education, and foster conversations about death and dying among loved ones.
