Participants learned techniques used in Zen to live with pain. The workshop is not a life hack or a “cure” for pain. Instead, we learned how to lessen the suffering associated with pain.
This was a practical workshop. Participants do not need to have any particular physical abilities and can participate fully sitting, standing, or in any other comfortable posture. They were expected to work with some challenging mental exercises that require modest abilities of concentration.
This is the second in our series on meditation practice, but participation in the first session is not required to enjoy this workshop. Pain is hard, but you can learn to minimize the suffering that comes with it. People of all physical abilities were welcome!
Olivia Walling is a former monastic and long-time Zen practitioner and has a deep and long experience with the techniques that will be presented.
