Robert Cart, flute
Flutist Robert Cart is an internationally acclaimed soloist and chamber musician who has toured throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, performing under conductors such as Bernstein, Leppard, and Zinman. He has appeared at major festivals including Tanglewood, Ravello, Wolftrap, and Aldeburgh, and in solo recitals at The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, and Lincoln Center.

 

Gina DiMedio Marrazza, piano
Pianist Gina DiMedio Marrazza has enjoyed a wide-ranging career as a soloist, collaborative artist, teacher, and arts administrator. As a young soloist, she performed multiple times with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Bordeaux Symphony, later appearing in duo-piano performances with her sister Annette with orchestras including Swarthmore, Bryn Mawr, Trenton, and the University of the Arts, as well as at the State Department and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She has collaborated with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, participated in Placido Domingo’s PBS masterclass, and since 2011 has performed widely with flutist Robert Cart as the Marrazza-Cart Duo.

 At Penn’s Village, we realize weekend questions do come up, but were temporarily short staffed. 
 
As we work to restore full staffing, we appreciate your patience and ask that you contact us during our current office hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm.

We are doing a Food Drive for Old Pine Community Center!
Until the end of the year, we will be helping our friends at Old Pine Community Center with their food drive. Please bring your donations to the office for events at the MacColl Room or our upcoming volunteer meetups.
 

Requested items include:
Peanut Butter, Jelly, Bread, Tuna Fish, Cereal, Soup, Tomato Sauce, Pasta, Cooking Essentials, Broth, Gravy, Oil, and Spices.

 

(Plastic containers preferred over glass. Please check all expiration dates before donating.)

Late Autumn New Member Tea

Join us for our second Seasonal Tea series that provide small gatherings fornew members to connect with one another and with more seasoned member.

 

Our goal -  to socialize, have fun and identify opportunities for involvement at Penns Village.

Attendees are invited to bring something sweet or savory to share.

It’s Not A Year In Provence

A discussion of what living in France for 3-6 months/year is like from the point of view of someone who has done it for 12 years and is bilingual in French, as well as Spanish. This presentation will include a mix of discussions – residency/ citizenship, taxes, healthcare, probate, cultural issues for 45 min and then open to questions and discussion amongst attendees. All views are subjective, and meant for entertainment (not legal advice).

Aging In Place- Making your Space Safe

Choosing to stay in your home as you age can be a big decision. Creating and maintaining a safe environment can be a key to keeping you in your home. There are small changes you can make to keep you safe, make it easier to move and prevent falls. Welcome Home Wellness and Birdwatch will walk Penn’s Village participants through multiple spaces in a home to discuss finding hazards and potential solutions for them. Each participant will leave with a home checklist to help review the safety of their own home.

There’s no holiday tradition in the world like the Comcast Holiday Spectacular ocated in the Comcast Center's seven-story lobby. Now in its 17th year, the free 15-minute, super-hi-res show depicts a photo-realistic virtual sleigh ride over the city, interspersed with a performance by the Philadelphia Ballet, holiday sing-alongs and more. Shows run at the top of the hour every hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. until January 2.

Since 1956, thousands of dancing snowflake-, candy cane- and snowman-shaped lights have illuminated Wanamaker’s Grand Court, accompanied by the world-renowned Wanamaker Organ. The Wanamaker light show is free to attend, no tickets required, and runs every half hour during operating hours. Upstairs in Dickens Village, guests step into a vintage, animatronic retelling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Free timed-entry tickets must be reserved in advance.
