Happy Email Habits
Email is a wonderful tool—but it can also be a little tricky! Sometimes what we mean and what people read aren’t quite the same. Here are a few easy tips to keep our messages clear, kind, and maybe even a little fun:
-
Skip the ALL CAPS party – When every word is capitalized, it can feel like we’re shouting. Regular capitalization is friendlier on the eyes. Want to highlight something important? Bold, italics, or a splash of color works wonders.
-
Reply vs. Reply All – If only one person needs your response, “Reply” is your best friend. Save “Reply All” for those rare moments when everyone really needs to be in the loop. Your friends’ inboxes will thank you.
-
CC with care – Think of CC’s like invitations: only send them to the folks who truly need to be there. It helps everyone stay focused—and keeps inbox clutter under control.
-
Corrections = kindness – Need to clarify something? A quick, private reply usually feels warmer and more respectful than looping in the whole group.
A few small tweaks like these can make our inboxes calmer, our messages clearer, and our communication a little brighter.
