Two recent articles on cognitive health were recently published in the media
and caught the eye simultaneously of two Penn’s Village bloggers:
Sandra Sokol (who manages the Health and Wellness blog) and
and Harriette Mishkin (who manages the Community blog).
One article had research on how doing puzzles stimulated the blood flow to different areas of the brain
,
The other article focused on how playing board games can reduce risk of dementia.
(Apologies if you can only read a preview, the full article may only be available to Washington Post subscribers)
Both articles also focused on quality of life gains through social interactions while gaining
a sense of achievement and feelings of well-being.
We were so intrigued by the ideas generated in the two articles that
Penn’s Village is exploring the possibility of a Game Day for its members.
