Thanks for participating in one (or more!) Of Penn’s Village’s Committees.
Some of you may remember that our Inclusiveness & Diversity Committee sponsored a series of Mitigating Bias learning sessions for Penn's Village leadership and staff in 2020. Since then, our organization has experienced much growth, including changes in staff, Board membership, and committee leadership. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to benefit, the Committee will repeat the Mitigating Bias training this fall.
The training will take place over three Mondays: September 15 and September 29 via Zoom, and October 20 in person at the MacColl Room, First Presbyterian Church, 201 S 21st Street. All sessions will run from 6:30–8:00 PM. Because each session builds on the last, attendance at all three is strongly encouraged.
Invitees include all members of the Board of Directors, the Inclusiveness & Diversity and Advisory Committees, all Standing Committee Chairs and members, and Penn's Village staff. If space allows, we will also invite member volunteers who provide services. Even if you attended the original training in 2020, we urge you to participate again.
The Board approved this training as part of the I&D Committee’s strategic plan “to increase our cultural competency and awareness of the challenges within us and our society, thus enabling us to become a more welcoming and diverse organization.” Ongoing programs and monthly web postings continue to highlight bias, systemic racism, and the contributions of diversity to society.
While participation is voluntary, we hope most—if not all—of you will attend. Please RSVP to Rachel Amin at rachel@pennsvillage.org by August 31.
You will then receive workshop materials and the Zoom link for the September sessions.
We look forward to seeing you on September 15!
The Inclusiveness & Diversity Committee
