New Support for Dementia Caregivers

SYNERGY HomeCare is helping get the word out about a new Medicare program that offers up to 72 hours of free respite care for families caring for someone with dementia.

This program — known as the Medicare GUIDE initiative — launched on July 1, 2025, and is designed to ease the burden on family caregivers by providing short-term, professional home care at no cost.

Eligibility includes those who:
  • Have dementia (an official diagnosis isn’t required)
  • Are enrolled in traditional Medicare (Parts A & B)
  • Live at home or in assisted living
  • Are not currently on hospice or in skilled nursing care
SYNERGY has partnered with a nursing organization to make participation easy — families don’t need to contact Medicare directly to enroll. A nurse will conduct an eligibility evaluation and offer support throughout the year.

To learn more, call 267-499-4700 and press 2.
