Subject: This Week From Penn's Village!
From: Penn's Village

Welcome Kate and Rachel to the Penn’s Village Team!

We’re thrilled to share that two new staff members are joining Penn’s Village this week! Please join us in welcoming Kate Clark, our new Director of Volunteer Engagement, and Rachel Amin, our new Operations and Programs Administrator.

Kate brings a deep commitment to aging in place and years of experience in volunteer management, community outreach, and nonprofit consulting. You may recognize her from her work at Philadelphia Corporation for Aging and Gen Philly, or even from around Society Hill, where her parents are members of our community. She’s excited to bring her warmth and skills to support our volunteers and strengthen our services citywide.

Rachel comes to us with a background in tech and a strong passion for building systems that serve people. After a successful career in sales, she has shifted her focus to the aging space and is eager to contribute to a mission-driven organization. Many of you may have met her at our recent Garden Party or through her volunteer work—she’s already shown a knack for jumping in wherever help is needed.

You’ll be hearing more from both Kate and Rachel in the coming weeks, and we’re excited for all the energy and care they’re bringing to the Penn’s Village community.

Want to say hello?
Email Kate at volunteer@pennsvillage.org or Rachel at operations@pennsvillage.org to congratulate them on their new roles.

New Support for Dementia Caregivers

SYNERGY HomeCare is helping get the word out about a new Medicare program that offers up to 72 hours of free respite care for families caring for someone with dementia.

This program — known as the Medicare GUIDE initiative — launched on July 1, 2025, and is designed to ease the burden on family caregivers by providing short-term, professional home care at no cost.

Eligibility includes those who:
  • Have dementia (an official diagnosis isn’t required)
  • Are enrolled in traditional Medicare (Parts A & B)
  • Live at home or in assisted living
  • Are not currently on hospice or in skilled nursing care
SYNERGY has partnered with a nursing organization to make participation easy — families don’t need to contact Medicare directly to enroll. A nurse will conduct an eligibility evaluation and offer support throughout the year.

To learn more, call 267-499-4700 and press 2.
