Exhibit at Parkway Central Library Closes November 2

Hurry to see the Parkway Central Library's exhibit, “We Are What We Eat,” which very much aligns with the food programs Penn’s Village has been offering throughout the year. This special exhibit explores the intersection of food, community, and identity. With recipes and cooking techniques passed down through generations, culinary heritage helps preserve flavors and traditions of our culture and the people around us. Dietary choices may reflect our values and beliefs. Certain foods may invoke special sensory memories, making them deeply ingrained in our selfhood. Where and how we get our food raises ethical questions about the environment and equity of access. The exhibit is in the Dietrich Gallery, on the third floor of the Library at 18th and Vine Streets.

ICYMI: Health and Wellness Blog Focuses on the Issues of Retirement for Singles

Aging is not for the faint of heart, and for those of it doing it on their own without a robust support system, it can be downright scary.  Thankfully, there are more resources and information available than ever before.  This month's Penn's Village Health and Wellness blog highlights the recent article in the New York Times that focuses on this issue.  You can read the blog here.

Celebrate the Day of the Dead on November 2

The Association of Mexican Entrepreneurs announces the first annual South 9th Street Day of the Dead Festival, on Saturday, November 2, from 11 am to 5 pm, on 9th Street between Christian and Federal Streets. (Rain date is November 3.)  Everyone can participate in the celebration of the lives of our loved ones who are no longer with us with food, entertainment, dancing, a procession down 9th Street, and family activities for all to enjoy.
