Drawing from her experience as nutrition editor at Prevention magazine and her research for her book, “Is Our Food Killing Us,” she’ll share how to minimize processed foods, reduce animal products, and embrace plant-based proteins and whole grains.
Joy’s personal journey using diet to manage high cholesterol has shaped her approach to healthy eating. As a serious food lover and former restaurant critic, she’s learned how to balance flavor and wellness. Whether you're new to healthy eating or refining your habits, this talk will help you make better choices and take control of your health.
Joy Manning is a restaurant critic for Philadelphia Magazine and nutrition editor of Prevention magazine. She has written the books Is Our Food Killing Us? and Stuff Every Cook Should Know, and helped other people write theirs, including Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking and Mastering the Art of Plant-Based Cooking. She has been nominated for awards from The James Beard Foundation and the International Association of Culinary Professionals, and has given talks on the topics of writing, storytelling, and networking.
