About this event

Penn’s Village Presents:

“How to Eat Healthy”

With Author Joy Manning

Thursday, October 10 at 2:00 pm

MacColl Room, First Presbyterian Church

201 S. 21st St.

Join author Joy Manning for a practical talk on "How to Eat Healthy." As a seasoned health journalist and food writer, Joy can help simplify the often-confusing world of nutrition research, offering actionable tips to improve your diet that are easier than you might think. Drawing from her experience as nutrition editor at Prevention magazine and her research for her book, “Is Our Food Killing Us,” she’ll share how to minimize processed foods, reduce animal products, and embrace plant-based proteins and whole grains.

Joy’s personal journey using diet to manage high cholesterol has shaped her approach to healthy eating. As a serious food lover and former restaurant critic, she’s learned how to balance flavor and wellness. Whether you're new to healthy eating or refining your habits, this talk will help you make better choices and take control of your health.

Joy Manning is a restaurant critic for Philadelphia Magazine and nutrition editor of Prevention magazine. She has written the books Is Our Food Killing Us? and Stuff Every Cook Should Know, and helped other people write theirs, including Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking and Mastering the Art of Plant-Based Cooking.  She has been nominated for awards from The James Beard Foundation and the International Association of Culinary Professionals, and has given talks on the topics of writing, storytelling, and networking.
