Note Location: Independence Live
1919 Market St.

A vegetarian since kindergarten and a vegan for a while now, Rachel Klein recognizes the importance of making memorable, impactful recipes and experiences that are good because the food is vegan, not despite that fact. She makes food that surprises and satisfies, cooking from scratch and focusing on cooking vegetables in new ways, using familiar flavors and textures. She will share her approach to cooking, demonstrate a recipe or two, and offer a tasting of some delicious and healthy treats.
Rachel Klein has cooked for weddings, first dates, and showers; for a prince, dignitaries, and many punk rock legends; for devoted vegans and fathers-of-the-brides who call themselves "carnivores" but concede they’ve enjoyed the food. She even “Beat Bobby Flay” on the TV show of the same name. Miss Rachel's Pantry, the four walls where she devotes most of her breathing moments, has been recognized as a top vegan restaurant in Food & Wine, Thrillest, Philly Mag, and VegNews. When she's not trying to pay bills, Rachel and the Pantry have done pro bono work and fundraisers to benefit Women Against Abuse, The Pennsylvania SPCA, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, RAICES Texas, The Sunday Love Project, and the ACLU.
