Players - Christie

The Penn’s Village Players are back! Join us for two entertaining one-act plays by Agatha Christie, the “Queen of Mystery,” performed by our friends and neighbors.  In “The Rats,” adulterous lovers Sandra and David are called to their friends’ flat for evening drinks, but no one is home. What first appears to be a simple mix-up of dates turns to something far more sinister when the pair are locked in and framed for murder. In “The Patient,” Mrs. Wingfield has been horribly injured in a fall from her balcony. Unable to communicate, it could have been an accident, attempted suicide, or worse still, a cold-blooded killer bent on murder. As relatives gather round her hospital bed the tension builds as an ingenious device helps solve the mystery. It is sure to be an enjoyable afternoon in the MacColl Room!

Dame Agatha Christie was an English writer known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, particularly those revolving around fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. She also wrote the world's longest-running play, the murder mystery The Mousetrap, which has been performed in the West End of London since 1952. In 1971, she was made a Dame (DBE) by Queen Elizabeth II for her contributions to literature. Guinness World Records lists Christie as the best-selling fiction writer of all time, her novels having sold more than two billion copies.
