Interpreter

JoEllen Winters will read "The Third and Final Continent," the final short story in Indian American writer Jhumpa Lahiri’s stunning debut collection, Interpreter of Maladies. In stories that travel from India to America and back again, Lahiri speaks with universal eloquence to everyone who has ever felt like a foreigner. The disorientation and alienation that come from the loss of what is familiar, the effort to reconcile tradition with new culture, pertain not only to the immigrant experience but to all lives as we rush into the future.
