Hello members and friends,
I have not written for some time. Now most of us have been immunized and there is the beginning of some normalcy, whatever that looks like.
As I hope most of you know, we are back to offering face-to face volunteer-delivered services, including transportation. We should all continue to follow city and CDC guidelines. At the present time, although the state has lifted the mask mandate, Philadelphia still requires face masks indoors whether or not one is vaccinated, except with family members. Penn's Village is complying.
We are now eager to accept new Villagers who are seeking to benefit from volunteer services. Signing up for that requires a home visit. I can easily schedule those. If you have been thinking about requesting services or if you know someone who might value the opportunity to have a regular companion, rides to appointments, help with technology, and more, now is a good time to inquire about becoming a Villager.
We always need more volunteer drivers. Drivers offer round trips mostly to health providers and grocery stores. Sometimes they do one way trips and occasionally go to other locations such as a hair salon, dry cleaners, etc. Drivers choose the trips they want to step up for There is no pressure for any particular schedule. Drivers spend 1-2 hours per ride in their own vehicles. Most do not park but return for the pick-up. Contact the office for more information if you are interested.
By the way, if you missed a Zoomed program that you were interested in, please go to our website. These are listed under "Events" as "Past Events." Looking forward to when we can have in-person group events when venues open up.
Take care,
Jane Eleey
