Penn’s Village Response to the Coronavirus

Penn’s Village is closely monitoring all of the latest developments, news and government actions about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We are making temporary changes to our operations out of concern for the health and safety of our members, volunteers and staff. Also, we have created this section of our website to provide a temporary resource which all of members, non-members, volunteers, staff, and business partners can access to get vital information about how to respond to this crisis. Our goal is to keep these pages up-to-date with critical links and communications about policies related to the spread of COVID-19 in our area as well as suggestions to help you manage the impact of the crisis on your lives.

The status of our operations, services, and programs are summarized below. We will update this as conditions change, so keep checking back. Also, check out the links on the following page for additional information and external resources. We will update these as quickly as possible as new information becomes available, so please come back to this page for more information.

The Penn’s Village mission is to support social engagement by connecting neighbors through our educational, cultural and social programs and provide members with essential assistance such as transportation, errands, companionship, and technology support by volunteers. During this time when we are forced to curtail this support, we are actively looking for alternative ways to provide this support. Check back on this page for further announcements.

Our wish is for everyone in the Penn’s Village family to stay healthy.

The Penn’s Village office at the First Presbyterian Church (as is the church) is closed at the present time. All office activities will be handled remotely and will continue as usual. We will continue to be available via email and telephone and will respond to messages as quickly as possible as we always do.

Penn's Village is suspending our usual volunteer-delivered in-person services. We are doing this, despite the fact that our selfless, committed volunteers have been continuing to step up to offer services, but now the environment has changed. We are planning to be in touch by phone with our Villager members (i.e those who have signed up for regular services) and respond to calls from others to give you ideas about how to get help from alternative sources. Companionship services can continue via phone calls, FaceTime and Skype.

We are offering all educational and social programs now via Zoom. Fliers continue to be sent via email and posted on our website. See our page on social distancing for more information and ideas of how to stay engaged during this period

All meetings including committee meetings, task force meetings and the upcoming board meeting will be held via Zoom or telephone conference call.

Penns Village supports and actively encourages a diverse and inclusive community of members, staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers.  Diversity and inclusiveness means excluding no one because of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, physical abilities, religious beliefs or political beliefs.
