Getting More Drivers for Penn's Village

Remember when you were a kid, and you wanted to go over your friend’s house but couldn’t get a ride? Yeah, me too. All too well, to be completely honest. Being a child and not being able to do certain tasks due to your limits can be such a pain. Just like that feeling, take a moment and think about what it would be like if you couldn’t drive yourself to the doctor or the grocery store. Take another moment and think about how terrible it must be if you aren’t feeling your best and would like to see your doctor but you can’t get transportation. Or if you want to cook yourself dinner, but you are limited on supplies. You wish you could hop in the car and drive to pick up some food, but you’re just not able.

Did you know that over 80% of Penn’s Village’s volunteers feel both appreciated and supported, and feel as though their work is meaningful? This is why Penn’s Village is looking for more volunteers, specifically drivers, for our members. Penn’s Village is a non-profit organization located in central Philadelphia. The goal of this organization is for members, referred to as Villagers -aging adults and those with have special needs- live comfortably and safely in their home. Additionally, as Villagers, they can attend social and educational events and stay connected to their community.

Just dedicating one to two hours of your time can make a huge difference in Villagers lives. Villagers need help, which means that they need you.

For more information about driving or other volunteer opportunities, please contact Jane Eleey, Executive Director, at 215-925-7333 or download a volunteer application at
www.pennsvillage.org. You can help contribute to the 100% satisfaction of villagers who receive your help.
