Philadelphia’s Boathouse Row
With Author Dotty Brown
December 5th at 2:00 pm
Join Penn’s Village as we learn about the history and beauty of Philadelphia’s Boathouse Row.
Dotty Brown, former Inquirer editor and avid rower, takes us back to the era when rowing was the spectator sport of its time and the subject of Thomas Eakins’ early artwork, through the heyday of the Kelly dynasty, and the fight for women to get the right to row.
The houses themselves are architectural wonders, including the Undine Barge Club designed by Frank Furness.
We will meet at the Athenaeum at 219 South 6th Street. The handicapped entrance is at the rear of the building.
Please RSVP by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. If emailing is inconvenient you may also call 215.925.7333. There is no charge for Penn’s Village members and volunteers. We would appreciate a $5 donation from other guests.
